In the Suez crisis Britain and France had funded the building of the canal and had not recovered its outlay when Egypt seized it.

You want to play silly buggers so be it. We don't owe anything to the USA. We buy very little from the USA so any tariffs will only hurt American citizens.

In the present situation the USA has no leverage on the UK. We owe nothing to them. We have supported the USA and been betrayed at every turn. The UK is totally sovereign thanks to us leaving the EU.
